Other than a w-2 is there a way to get a companies tax Id number?

I am trying to avoid foreclosure and can file my taxes electronically all I need is a federal tax id for the company Teletech Holdings Inc. Any help?

You’d have to ask the payroll department. That’s the ONLY reliable way. Many companies, especially larger ones, have multiple EINs and EINs can change from year to year as well due to mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, business unit realignments, etc. This makes using any other source — including a prior year’s W-2 — a risky proposition.

Bear in mind that there is other information on your W-2 that will probably be needed to file a valid, legal tax return, including the numbers and codes from boxes 7 – 14. Those won’t be on your paystub. It’s also possible that the numbers on your W-2 will not match the paystub or that you will incorrectly account for such adjustments as pension plan contributions and Section 125 plan reductions.
